If you own a Full Size Wagoneer, you know about the problem with the fuel tank skid plate. The factory design allows dirt and debris to become trapped inside the gas tank skid plate. Add some water and soon the rust will appear. After a few months the rust starts attacking the structural integrity of the skid plate. Eventually the skid plate will fail and allow the tank to drop and create an unsafe condition. Our skid plate is designed to replace the original one. We manufacture ours from 18 gauge steel (original was 20) and add a heavy gauge steel support along the bottom to help support the overall structure.
