The factory-installed shackle mounts are commonly problematic on high performance cars; once the frame area starts to weaken from rust, these take the load transferred from the leaf shackles and these forces can begin to bend or twist the shackle mount. The original parts also rot out on the area near the outer rocker. This is a direct weld-in replacement part, not a slip-on cap.
